International Design Guild Calls on Members to “Focus” on Dominating in 2015 – Yahoo Finance

The home at 1181 North Hillcrest Road in Trousdale Estates closed in six days and sold for a record-breaking $70 million, the most any buyer has ever paid for a luxury home in Beverly Hills. I am so proud to have been instrumental in this project and to have had the opportunity to utilize the skills I developed while at Woodbury University, Ferrugio said. Opportunities of this magnitude are rare, said Christoph Korner, chair of Woodburys Interior Architecture Department, School of Architecture . To have been selected for such an assignment so early in his career is really quite extraordinary. We take great pride in the successes of our graduates and are extremely pleased to have played a role in Josephs development as an interior architect. When asked about his inspiration for the home, Ferrugio offered this: “We asked ourselves: If members of the Rat Pack were alive in 2014, how would they live?” Ferrugio and his team, two of whom are also Woodbury alumni, enlisted art galleries, bespoke artisans and engineers to furnish the mansion with artifacts and fixtures such as the life-size Bumblebee Transformer replica and the 180 Murano glass pendant chandeliers, among many other items custom made for the estate. “We wanted to create a world-class home that had no limits on luxury in every aspect,” Ferrugio said. Ferrugio Design + Associates current slate of projects for 2015 total more than 200,000 square feet of space and command a real estate value in excess of $400 million.

Steelcase Education Announces Winner In National Student Design Competition – Yahoo Finance

This year, were encouraging our members to leverage these tools — from our innovative designer program to our unmatched digital marketing programs to ensure that they gain market share. At the Summit, IDG will reveal the makeover results of its tremendously successful Design for a Difference program. The Design for a Difference program allows our members to focus on building community in their towns. It allows our members to position themselves as the business leaders in their communities who care and use their knowledge and resources to change lives. She adds, This years participants exceeded expectations to create beautiful yet functional spaces for all the winning charities. They rallied their communities to get involved and it has been a truly transformational experience. We look forward to inspiring more members and designers to participate in the program next year. Building upon the foundation outlined in 2014, IDG will highlight the success of its comprehensive digital marketing strategy and focus on the evolution of the program this year. “Each of the student finalists submitted unique plans that focused on creating active learning environments, a key influencer in student success and outcomes,” said Madelyn Hankins, Principal, Design Alliances at Steelcase. “The NEXT Competition is not only an opportunity for students to hone in on their skills, but it’s a privilege for us to learn from their vision and how they foresee the ideal learning environment.” Design students in the NEXT Competition were directed to develop active learning spaces for a new academic building at a small liberal arts institution “NEXT University.” Participants submitted designs for a distance learning classroom, large active learning classroom, small active learning classrooms, a faculty center and a student WorkCafe primarily using Steelcase products . “The integration of technology has transformed the modern-day learning space and has profoundly influenced the need for thoughtful classroom design and new pedagogies,” said Jerry Holmes, Principal, Design Alliances at Steelcase. “Steelcase is a research-driven organization, so we are always looking to learn what students have to say about efficacy in today’s classroom.” Other finalists include Erns Wall of the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Heather Furman of Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia; Sara Diesburg of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois; and Shannon Myers of Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia. The judges for the competition were: David Broz, firmwide education leader at Gensler; Bonnie Casamassima, project manager at Southface; Jim Luckey, recently retired from SHW Group/Stantec; Carrie Perrone, principal of learning environments at Smithgroup; and Dr. Lennie Scott-Webber, Director of Education Environments at Steelcase.
