Head Of Design At Mercedes-benz Receives Best Interior Designer Award

Some of you know that at least the interior of the C-Class W205 was actually designed in Italy , by a team of interior designers which were until now used on creating the center consoles of Mercedes-Benz concept cars mostly, so it’s no wonder that its design is so far ahead and classy at the same time. Gorden Wagener – whom we had the pleasure of interviewing back in 2009 , soon after he had became head of design at Mercedes-Benz was praised today as the interior designer of the year at the 2014 Automotive Interiors Expo, in Stuttgart. The selection process for the award was made by a jury consisting of a large amount of car journalists from around the world, with the bunch finally voting on Gorden Wagener to take the award home for Mercedes-Benz.

How wonderful that a public project was able to be created into a comfortable healthy space that feels like you are in your own living room, the panel said. The coupling of green interior products and design in this public building enables an extended reach of education about sustainability. The library is the first built in the area in over 30 years, with CK Design tasked with creating a site that would reflect the diverse and rich local identity and to create a safe and inclusive space that people love. The open concept space is bright, modern and utilises furniture to create multi-purpose areas and collaborative areas. Spanning 900 square metres, it features 12 internet terminals and offers free Wi-Fi. the library boasts a central timber staircase, and a series of large windows drench the library with natural light. Timber reigns in its furniture and book storage, and it also clads clever feature pieces.
